People are over the oscars
Variety's Monica Marie zorilla reports in an article that this year's oscars award show crashed and burned. Ratings were down 58% from last year's show. Contributing factors include the pandemic and people just not enjoying the show anymore.
It's not so surprising that the oscars have declined in recent years. There's always been this notion that it was just a rich people's party meant for other rich people. Considering the #oscarssowhite tag that trended last year, it's obviously still very exclusive. awards to me never really highlighted a film's value.
